SUMMER FIELD TRIP AT LA CHISPA FARM
The Kid’s Summer Camp: Entrenando Niños Campeones organized by City Heights Latino Organizing Committee (COLCH) has been providing children with an opportunity to continue to be engaged in their community during the summer break, learning about nutrition, cooking, physical education and sustainability.
Last week, they went on a field trip to La Chispa Farm in Ramona where Farmer Jose showed them to how cabbage grows and talked about the importance of eating local and seasonal produce.
COLCH is formed by an active group of women in City Heights dedicated to advance the health and education of children in their community. They are active participants of Foodshed’s community engagement and sometimes lead food demos and talk to other residents about the importance of eating fresh local produce.
